TEEN READ WEEK
Wow, Summer hit and I disappeared! Sorry about that, but I'm baaaaack!! (Did you hear my scary poltergeist voice?)
So to start off the Fall Season, Amazon has declared this week of October as "TEEN READ WEEK!"
In celebration of you, my awesome fans, I've included six books I read this summer and RECOMMEND you check out, if you haven't already. These are fairly "mild" compared to some of my darker, edgier reads, which I'll post about later. Right now, it's about a new season in life, school starting, maybe a new love in your life, and with all the summer sports and vacations coming to an end, you need something to fill up your spare time. Exercise your brain and READ! Also, you may have a class with required reading. These are good, and both boys and girls will find something in the characters to relate to. Enjoy! Later friends.

"Twenty Boy Summer" by Sarah Ockler
This was recommended in a writing class I took about writing sex in young adult books. I ended up really enjoying the story. Great perspective on grief and different coping mechanisms. What happens when your secret boyfriend dies and he's the brother of your best friend?

"Pushing the Limits" by Katie McGarry
(This one I bought on cover alone). Great story on acceptance and learning about unconditional love. Both characters come from abusive backgrounds, both misunderstood…except to each other.

"Wish I Could Have Said Goodbye" by Shari Brady
(This one I actually know the personal story that inspired the author). Another great read on grief, but in "Wish" your perspective is from the girl who lost her sister and how her parents turn her life upside down trying to keep her from following in her dead sibling's footsteps. Smothered, mistrusted, and definitely judged without cause, the protagonist turns to the one person her parents hate – her sister's boyfriend.

"Lock and Key" by Sarah Dessen
Dessen is one of my favorite authors. You can't go wrong with one of her books. This one I read during the summer and is one of my top five favorites. A wonderful story about two teens: a girl abandoned and forced to live with a sister she thought hated her; and a boy who's abused and hides the truth behind a compassionate persona. Tear jerker.

"Shades of the Future" by Suzanne Lilly
If you discovered a way to know your future, would you really want to find out? What if something bad is supposed to happen and you think you found a way to trick "fate," only to have the prediction come true, turning your life upside down? Who will love someone broken? Great read on learning to turn tragedy into something positive and trusting in others.

"Somewhere Over the Freaking Rainbow" by L.L. Muir
The author is a personal friend of mine, which is why I bought it in the first place. Fell in love with the story. Paranormal tale involving angels and a rebellious teen who refuses to take what they tell him at face value, especially when the girl he's crushing on, vanishes.
