Welcome!
Been a while and feels like I'm reinventing the wheel. But I've finally lassoed my life and back in the writing saddle, so to speak. The past five years were filled with heartbreak, frustration, humility, loss, and major evolution. Tiny miracles of joy kept the light on in my life. While I lost both of my parents after years of being their primary caretaker, I've also been blessed with four new, beautiful additions to my family.
And through it all, my writing gave me sanctuary. Breathed life into me whenever I stole a moment to transcribe the stories my noisy characters kept telling. My imaginary players never gave up and went silent. They kept me from waving the white flag in surrender.
In fact, because of my personal transformation through life's trials, my writing deepened with more emotional and realistic layers. I became multi-dimensional. Older, wiser, and renewed. I tore down walls, but defined boundaries to protect me from allowing negativity to drain my creative, and personal peace, wells. I've learned to accept what I can't change, love the woman I've become. I changed the reflection in the mirror.
Still a hopeless romantic, obsessive chocoholic, and dreamer. The night sky, punctured with sparkling stars and an ever-changing, glowing lunar rock, remain my favorite backdrop.
Aries, through and through, my personality (and favorite color) are ruled by shades of red, with a splash of yellow to keep me from taking life too seriously.
Family is key to my survival, especially Forever Guy who's my anchor in life's raging storms. We're empty-nesters, who love to camp, ride motorcycles, and keep our kids guessing if we're still sane.
My personal passion is writing, followed closely by reading, and a fascination with fortune-tellers, oracle cards, and real-life crime stories. Throw in an impressive collection of romantic comedies and an iTunes compilation ranging from cello concertos to the likes of Post Malone, and you pretty much know all things "Harley Brooks".
So have a seat on the porch, and let's get to know each other. Glad you stopped by!
